Glucose

Glucose is an aldohexose. It is also known as dextrose. It is monomer of many large carbohydrates like starch, cellulose etc. Its structure is assigned on the basis of various chemical reactions and interference made thereafter.

  1. Its molecular formula is (ce {C6H12O6} )
  2. On prolonged heating with (ce {HI}) it produces (n)-hexane. It signifies that all the carbon atoms are linked in a straight chain. (ce{})
