• Homogeneous mixtures of two or more components.
• Composition and properties are uniform throughout the mixture.

Solvent:

• Component present in the largest quantity in the solution.
• Determines the physical state in which the solution exists.

Solutes:

• One or more components present in the solution other than the solvent.

Binary Solutions:

• Solutions considered in this unit consist of two components (solvent and solute)
